Yuuki Nishihara is a custom guitar builder in Japan. Last year he started making ukuleles under the name Lotus Acoustics and our friends in Japan at Basis Records turned us onto his fantastic work. This is one of the best sounding concert you'll find. We'll start with a "raw" sound sample from Kris Fuchigami and then go over some of the features.
Pictures and video show the exact ukulele now available here.
The body on this concert is Honduran mahogany tree was cut about 50 years ago. It has an ultra smooth and beautiful satin (maybe semi-gloss) finish. Reminds me of the "Silk" finish that Kanile'a offers because it feels so smooth to the touch. It has curly maple binding, a Santos rosewood string thru bridge, and an ebony faceplate with Peghed geared tuners.
The fingerboard is granadillo wood, a relatively new wood to guitar making but fairly common in South America as the best tonewood choice for marimba and xylophone, often referenced as “La Madera Que Canta” (“wood that sings”). This ringing, bright tap tone is why it's gaining popularity amongst American instrument makers.
This custom concert has easy low action, and a very impressive clear, full voice. Includes deluxe wood case and humidifier.
This is a very special custom concert and includes deluxe case and Oasis humidifier.
