    Serious uke here...

... of the professional caliber with some really cool features.

This  Mahogany tenor ukulele has a custom style with a classic look. It features a radius fretboard for a great feel and includes the Pono arched top wooden hard case. The build quality is unparalleled in this price range and the voicing has just the right balance of warmth and clarity.

This is a completely dry sound sample. Use quality playback for best listening.

The precision workmanship, attention to detail as well as skill level of Pono's top builders is among the best in the world. Experience the New Pono!

This tenor is displayed and protected by the cleanest gloss finish yet from Pono. This glassy smooth lacquer finish is extremely strong yet just a few thousandths of an inch thick. This is the art of uninhibited protection. Also to be noted is that Pono has kept improving and I would put the beautiful look of this finish up against ANY custom shop instrument. It's as flawlessly executed as you will find.

Even though improvements have been made with each shipment, I am still shocked at the level of these new models. They honestly surprise me, the quality is so on point I would believe they were made in the Ko'olau custom shop. This is the first time I can say this. John and Noa have finally accomplished a custom shop quality instrument at a fraction of the cost.

This is the best on the market at this price and we are proud to offer it. This model has classic tone woods and has great projection.

    Comes with Hardshell Case.

Pono only uses solid woods, only bone nut and saddle. wood bindings, no plastics.  They have a climate controlled factory on the island of Java and diligently aim for perfection on every level. It shows!

Photos and video are stock typical.

One of the options for this ukulele is to trade out the Herco HE-360, included humidifier, for the more expensive Oasis Ukulele Humidifier (OH-18) at a discount. This is required if you live in a low humidity area.(parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, etc..) or also areas with winter seasons, especially if you are heating the air in your house. For more info refer to the ukulele care link at the bottom of this page.

Another option is to switch from high G tuning (like in the video) to low G tuning. This is a blog article discussing it if you are not sure whether you want High or Low G?

A Fine Solid Body Mahogany Tenor
I purchased this ukulele last summer. HMS sent it via FED EX and it arrived on time and carefully boxed for shipping to the Seattle area.
The Koolau/Pono hard case was impressive and of high quality. The first site of this fine crafted solid mahogany tenor ukulele created a sense of joy, wonder, and optimism. I knew this uke was going to accelerate my playing up to the next level!
This uke has great midtones, sustain, and intonation. The Koolau high G strings sound great now. These are higher tension strings, however, so it took a while to break them in. Additionally, they are more sensitive to ambient temperature changes.
The high gloss mahogany, the Abalone rosette, Pearl dotted fret markers, and the Ebony purfling, give this uke an outstanding look and value.
I plan on another ukulele purchase soon from HMS! I may be afflicted with "UAS", i.e. Ukulele Acquisition Syndrome.
