This beautiful tenor was made by a luthier in San Antonio, Chade Nelson. It's a one of a kind never to be reproduced and one of the 4 to be made from his "seasons" theme. This one is "Spring" and it features custom inlays and appointments to the look of this season. Beyond the cool looks is an incredible tone we think you'll love!
The body has a German spruce top and the back and sides are a double back and side made with African Blackwood. It's framed off with flamed sycamore binding and protected with a gloss lacquer finish. The tone is fat and clear with superb volume.
The sound and playability of this unique custom tenor are certainly among the best you will find. Corey and Mika give us a sound sample. Pictures AND video show the exact ukulele available here.
This custom tenor has African blackwood double-back and sides which adds to the power and projection. The double-back adds extra stability and stiffness that helps to transfer more vibration or energy to the top, resulting in more response and volume. It pairs perfectly with the German Spruce top which is probably the wood most rich in tradition concerning lutherie, featuring exceptional stiffness together with low density. German spruce has been referred to as the foundation of a great guitar sound and this custom shows that applies to the ukulele as well.
Chade had built some classical guitars before falling in love with the ukulele a few years ago. You can see that in this tenor with its 12 frets to body design, Spanish heel neck joint. It's built in the classical style and with an emphasis on power and resonance.
This is a very thoughtful and artistic design from one of our favorite luthiers. Don't hesitate to add this awesome custom tenor to your collection.
