Product Review (submitted on December 26, 2012):

Between my wife and myself, we have 7 ukuleles in the house. Five of our ukes rest comfortably & happily in Oahu hardshell cases. If the other two weren't odd sizes/shapes, they'd be in Oahu cases as well. Why?

I have a Pono MSD-E (that I bought from Hawaii Music Supply many years ago) that is my workhorse ukulele. I take it to every gig and on every trip I take. It has only ever lived in an Oahu hardshell case. At one gig, the venue was up two flights of stairs. Yeah, you guessed it: the uke went tumbling down a flight of stairs. Just one scuff on the case and uke was completely unscathed. And on a flight, things really shifted in the overhead bin and my Pono fell out and straight onto the floor. Again, zero damage to the uke and case.

Besides being protection from the elements, Oahu hardshell cases also allow you to effectively use humidifiers to keep your ukulele from drying out. I use Dampit humidifiers. They slide right into the sound hole and the uke's strings hold them in place. Since the body is the part that needs the most protection, this is an optimal arrangement.

If you're looking a great case to protect your ukulele investment for years to come, this is the case for you.
