New Cedar Top Mahogany Tenor Pro Classic

The Pono Pro Classics have new wood rosettes, gloss bodies and faceplate with smooth satin necks. Other small adjustments were made to slightly slim the necks and lighten their weights along with a few adjustments to the bracing, these bringing Pono that much closer to the illustrious custom Ko'olau feel and tone.

This model features many players favorite tone wood combo, a western red cedar top and Honduran mahogany sides and back. It has the radius fretboard for extra comfort when chording and the back of the mahogany neck is a smooth satin finish for seamless sliding for your left hand. The beautiful body and faceplate woods are shown off and protected with a glassy smooth lacquer finish. This extremely strong finish is just a few thousandths of an inch thick, and this art of uninhibited protection is one of the keys to Pono's excellent tone. Kalei goes over some of the features and gives us a raw sound sample from this new model.

All the way across the pacific and almost to Australia, a hand full of super talented craftsman on the island of Java are making Pono guitars and ukuleles. Pono means excellence, and they have been living up to it. The value in this tenor package is obvious and we give it our highest recommendations.

All of the Pono tenor and baritone models have a dual-action adjustable truss rod. This is used to stabilize and adjust the lengthwise forward curvature (also called relief), of the neck. It can be adjusted from right inside the soundhole with an allen wrench provided. This is something you will probably not need to adjust. But over time and with humidity changes, it is a very useful option to have and an easy thing to adjust.

Comes with Hardshell Case. Photos and video are stock typical.

Extra Options

One of the options for this ukulele is to trade out the Herco HE-360 included humidifier for the more expensive Oasis Ukulele Humidifier (OH-18 or OH-5+) at a discount. This is required if you live in a low humidity area (parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, etc.) or also areas with winter seasons, especially if you heat the air in your home. For more info refer to the Ukulele Care link at the bottom of this page. If you think you need to humidify the instrument, then you also need a hard case for a humidifier to properly work, and you need to maintain the humidifier by refilling it as needed.
