Makala is the more affordable line from the Kala Ukulele Company. The MK-S sell everyday in our store because we sell them for only 40-some dollars and they are good enough to learn on. If you switch the strings to Aquila it improves the tone a bit as well. The Makala MK-S is our starting point because anything less is just not really giving yourself enough of a chance to learn and enjoy the ukulele. You can buy this alone, as the package you see in the pictures that has been our #1 Beginner package for years, or make your own package.
