Koolau Tenor Deluxe - Quilted Redwood/Macassar Ebony Gloss!

Quilted redwood like this is rare, amazing to look at, and posesses wonderful tonal character! This Hawaiian made custom tenor has curly koa binding and intensely striped Macassar ebony sides and back. This strain of ebony is only grown on the Island of Macassar in the Pacific above Australia. It is more expensive than almost any other wood on the market. Sound-wise it has the richness of rosewood, but the focus of Maple. It pairs perfectly with the quilted redwood, which is slightly less dense than plain redwood and very "open" with sustaining overtones. This instrument is light in weight and very balanced from neck to body. It is surely one of the best ukuleles we have ever seen or heard.
