Kamaka HF-38 Eight String Tenor

Hand made with all solid select Hawaiian Koa Wood

The 8-string has all four strings doubled, with the third and fourth pair tuned in octaves. Played with standard ukulele tuning and fingering, the sound is rich and unique. The paired strings are played together like a 12-string guitar. It creates very smooth strumming and is a big part of the Hawaiian sound.

Also known as ”the Liliu VIII,” the Tenor 8-String was designed by Sam Kamaka Jr. in 1976 to commemorate the Bicentennial of the United States.

This instrument would work best with the MiSi acoustic Trio -with it's rechargeable preamp,  or the new L.R. Baggs 5.0 ukulele pickup. The Herco HE360, is the included humidifier. You can upgrade to the more expensive Oasis Ukulele Humidifier (OH-18). This is suggested if you live in a low humidity area.(parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, etc..) including cold winter areas if you are heating the air most of the day and night.
