Kala Archtop Sunburst F-Hole ukulele

Who doesn't like the look of an old gibson arch-top? They look cool. Well now Kala is now offering all those classic jazzy looks in this acoustic-electric tenor ukulele with a satin sunburst.

How does this tenor compare with a flat top, regular round soundhole ukulele? Well, acoustically it’s a little less “boomyâ€. But it is a focused sound that is pleasant naturally, and plugged in will be more feedback resistant. If you wanted to take your ukulele to the next planet with effects, or be a tad less “boomyâ€ as you practice at night, or would just love this one hanging in your collection, Dont hesitate, this uke is super fun to play and we will make sure you get it setup with low action and good electronics!

A key factor to this having a great value that we attest to is our custom setup that we give to it.

Extra Options

One of the options for this ukulele is to trade out the Herco, included humidifier, for the more expensive Oasis Ukulele Humidifier (OH-18). This is suggested if you live in a low humidity area.(parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, etc..) including cold winter areas if you are heating the air most of the day and night. For more info see our Ukulele Care link at the bottom of the site

None of these options are required. You can still create a package with accessories on the site by going to different product pages and adding to cart. This ukulele will automatically come with a Herco HE-360 Humidifier. The options are just for convenience and to offer an extra discount while you buy this instrument.

Put a note in the special instructions if you want it strung with a low G at no extra charge or any specific setup instructions(i.e. string for left-handed, I play light and like very low action etc....)

If you simply want your instrument to be a low g instead of high, it is no extra charge. If you are not sure, then check out this video blog - Comparing Hi G with Low G.

Fantastic love this Ukulele, Reminds me of when I was a kid.
If you want a beautiful Tabaco burst arch top f hole that looks like and has the mellow sound of a Gibson, look at the Kala Arch top Ukulele. Great for Jazz and gets lots of compliments. Doesn’t have the loud tinny sound of a regular Uke. Mellow and mild but also “Electric”. Plug into any amplifier, and you have all the volume you want. My Uncle gave me a Montgomery Wards (Gibson) from the 40’s when I was a kid. Wish I still had it, but, what can make you happy, if you can’t have the original? This one! I love it. The satin (dull) finish is just right for this. Glad I waited and didn’t get the glossy one. And the set up by Hawaii Music Supply is priceless. Glad I didn’t listen to the post above, and went for it. This is high quality, does not seem cheap to me. Is a little heavier than my other tenor uke. Like that) and this IS an arch top; it’s not supposed to have the same sound as a flat top. (That’s why I bought it.) IF you get one, I think you will be happy. I am.

Decent value for an electric acoustic
This is the first ukulele that I bought when I started learning how to play. Here's my take of the pros and cons of this model.

Pros:
Good tone and sustain for an archtop.
Fairly durable due to the use of laminated wood.
Clean tone when plugged in.

Cons:
Quality issues, there are some nasty sharp edges on the nut and frets.
Does not project as well as other ukuleles.
Overall "cheap" feel. The whole ukulele just seems hollow.

Overall, it's not a bad ukulele. However, there are other ukes that are a much better value for the money.

Very good for playing Jazz
I don't own this ukulele but I could play it for a long time because a friend of mine bought one some time ago. When I played it acoustically for the first time I thought I was too mute, but when I could hear it amplified I realized it was made to be played plugged in. Anyway when my friend bought it,it had a tough high action, but when the seller lowered the action a bit it started working like a charm. I suggest this uke for playing jazzy songs and for the same reason I suggest to mount too a coated low G string on it. A very good value for money. Have fun with this uke!!

Kala Archtop Sunburst Electric Tenor
Excellent value in an electric tenor. While somewhat muted when played acoustically it delivers a nice tone when plugged in. It is a great looking instrument with good playability (probably largely due to the top notch setup done before you receive it), The electronics are average but provide a serviceable sound. Overall for the price this is a very good buy. I have been very happy with the look, feel and sound from this instrument in this price range.
