Design Your Own Custom Ko'olau!
From cutting the wood to stringing it up, Noa Bonk with Ko'olau Ukulele consistently handbuilds amazing tenors. This is a look at various customer CS models. The CS has a slightly larger lower bout and more rounded body curves compared to the Deluxe and T100. It differs slightly in headstock taper and bracing as well. The CS comes stock with only premium woods of your choice and a beautiful semi-gloss nitro-cullulose finish. If you really want to show off these world class woods, you can upgrade to the most perfect gloss finish.
With the options here you can put together your own custom with everything just how you want! You will choose your body woods, the binding, purfling, bridge, headstock, and finish among other options and upgrades. This will most likely be fun for some but may be option overload for others. That is why we make some options necessary to choose from and most not necessary. If you want Ko'olau to choose, just don't select the optional choices and Noa will make the selection for you.
As far as which woods to choose, John from Ko'olau writes, "We are often asked 'what's best?'.... it's not a 'what's best' decision, but instead, what sound is preferred. Most players, especially after becoming serious about guitar, ukulele, or any stringed instrument end up owning several instruments with a variety of combinations of woods."
Below are some recent examples from Ko'olau. Remember, these video sound samples here are recorded for true reference and have no alteration or enhancement. Use quality playback and hear the differences.

What you get with a Ko'olau ukulele is a lifetime musical companion made by one master luthier and finished by another. Noa and Ryan are both so precise, talented, and experienced. You will only see extremely clean construction and the most phenomenal woods. They're perfectionists to the max. They're not affordable for some, but if you can, they deliver in the quality and tone many of us drool over.
The next example has a Redwood top with Milo sides and back and koa binding. I love this combination!
Kimo Hussey goes over this CS:
These are hand built by Noa Bonk using the finest materials and techniques. If you are craving some serious tone from a tenor, this may be just what you want!
These were a few examples of the Ko'olau Tenor CS. The craftsmanship is second to none. Because of the small production of the Ko'olau custom shop, and their high demand around the world, this method of ordering is the fastest way to get one. And they are worth the wait.
