This solid cedar top baritone ukulele sounds huge! We are super impressed with the volume, sustain, and rich overtones that come out of this amazingly affordable baritone.

On top of sounding fantastic, the woods are beautiful! Warm tones of western red cedar and acacia are framed of with the seductive padauk binding and shown off with a thin, glassy finish. The padauk bound fretboard and slotted headstock add to the classy, yet natural style this model has. An incredible new baritone from Kala Brand Music Company! Take a listen-

The Baritone ukulele is the same tuning as the high four strings on a guitar. A 4th lower than a regular ukulele, but the shapes are all the same. A baritone is significantly smaller than a guitar but still gives you a similar depth and color. The standard G C E A doesn't do this, and vise versa. Both G C E A and D G B E are the same intervals in different keys so the same shapes will apply. But you'll find it leads you into different styles of play. Baritone is fun! Everyone should have one. And this one is nice!

We always include a humidifier with solid wood instruments, including solid top ones like this. This is not an option, and we do not charge for it.

We truly set up each instrument to ensure you get the absolute best for your money! This includes Saddle and Nut heights, Fret work (usually planing or "dressing"), intonation checks, and a thorough inspection for cosmetic flaw. This is crucial for this middle price range where you can really get close to a high end feel from our work. No one is more qualified than our crew to do these final adjustments, and unlike your normal retail shop, we aren't afraid to dig in and do some real work for our customers! And always, we are dedicated to giving you honest and expert service and advice!

Setup Options

Most people shop with us because of the extensive quality control and final setup work we provide at no extra cost on all ukuleles we ship out. However this is time consuming work and creates a delay in shipping. We are now offering an "Expedited Setup" for those wanting to receive their instrument faster. See details on the Full Setup and Expedited Setup options along with current turnaround times for each at the link- HERE.

When you buy this ukulele you can get a gig bag or canvas covered hard case at an additional discount.  (Not required but suggested.) The gig bag and canvas covered hard case can be seen in our cases category under the accessories tab at the top of this page. Other cases can also be chosen there.

This ukulele has a solid top so one of the options for this ukulele is to trade out the Herco HE-360, included humidifier, for the more expensive Oasis Ukulele Humidifier (OH-18) at a discount. This is required when you have a solid wood instrument if you live in a low humidity area.(parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, etc..) or also in an area with winter seasons, especially if you are heating the air in your house. For more info refer to the ukulele care link at the bottom of this page. If you think you need to humidify the instrument, then you also need a hard case for a humidifier to properly work, and you need to maintain the humidifier by refilling it as needed.

Put a note in the special instructions if you need to or would like to let our setup or shipping department know anything.

After you add this instrument to your cart, you can still create your own package by adding a case or accessories from the website.

Under the accessories tab you can also customize this instrument by adding strap button(s) or a pickup installed of your choice for plugging in.

Get a free shipping quote by after adding this to your cart. this ukulele makes me bari happy
I never thought I’d buy a baritone ukulele. I didn’t think I’d ever buy a Kala. This one purchase defied both those assumptions. This ukulele has opened up a new sonic and mental world for me. That is, the baritone sound is so different (depth, sustain, and the lower tuning) from even the tenors I usually play that I feel as if I’m playing a different instrument without having to learn a new instrument. The “mental” part is that for the most part I am transposing as I play (to accommodate the lower tuning).

I love the extra space on the fretboard (in both directions: fret spacing, and across the fretboard, which is 1.5” at the nut). The sound is full, and the (Aquila) wound strings that I thought I would not like (based on a wound C on a tenor I used to have) sound and feel great, although I’m not sure about the two higher strings, which seem a little harsh yet weak, so I’ll try another set (D’addario Titanium) when I feel like it. And one of the tuners is a little temperamental, but aren’t we all? (I don’t expect perfection at this price.)

It’s a great looking instrument. It’s a relatively easy transition from tenor. The neck is a little thicker than I prefer, and I sometimes get some left-hand pain, but hey — there’s a price for the pleasures of life. Oh, the price: under $300 for this instrument seems like a possible pricing error. The MiSi that I got with it works well, as does the Oahu case (once I aired out its case b.o. for a few days).

I could be wrong, but this might be the baritone ukulele that gets you the most for your money between an all-laminate and a more expensive all-solid brand or model.
