Picture and video specific to this listing.
This is a new custom Ko'olau from Noa Bonk. It has a "one-off" design on the cedar top collaborating with local pyrography artist Dino Muradian. Pyrography is a wood burning art and Dino does this art better than anyone we've ever seen.
For over 20 years Noa has been building fantastic ukuleles, but he never stopped refining his methods and the result is truly exceptional instruments like this one. This lightweight tenor has a big vibrant tone. Tobias and Corey give us a sound sample. Sample with Ko'olau Aho low G set.
This tenor features a Western Red Cedar top and gorgeous figured koa sides and back as well as the faceplate on the slotted headstock. It's protected with a perfect nitrocellulose semi-gloss natural finish for smooth sliding and with the 12" radius fretboard it's extremely comfortable. The fretboard and bridge are ebony as well as the body binding which is accented with purfling strips.
This one was originally going to be a custom order. So it had an endjack hole drilled for a pickup. SO just let us know what pickup you would like installed and you will get a free pickup install with it as well.
The CS is the contemporary series with a more rounded body shape and radius fretboard. The O stands for Omakase which is a Japanese term which is usually used in restaurants where the customer wants to leave the choices to the master chef. So CS-O is an instrument that Noa has made all the choices on. I find these type of builds where the luthier makes what they want and chooses all the materials to often be the best and this instrument is certainly one of the finest ukes we've experienced.
On top of that, each of these pyrography pieces Dino does for Ko'olau is unique. This is actually the first one he has done for Ko'olau and it's an incredible tenor with one of a kind art.
The sound of this uke is inspiring and the level of meticulous craftsmanship is unparalleled!
