When you buy this ukulele you can get a UkeCrazy gig bag or canvas covered hard case at an additional discount.  (Not required but suggested.) The UkeCrazy gig bag and canvas covered hard case can be seen in our cases category under the accessories tab at the top of this page. Other cases can also be chosen there.

One of the options for this ukulele is to trade out the Herco HE-360, included humidifier, for the more expensive Oasis Ukulele Humidifier (OH-18) at a discount. This is required if you live in a low humidity area.(parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, etc..) or also areas with winter seasons, especially if you are heating the air in your house. For more info refer to the ukulele care link at the bottom of this page. If you think you need to humidify the instrument, then you also need a hard case for a humidifier to properly work, and you need to maintain the humidifier by refilling it as needed.

A joy to play and listen to!
I bought this Uke for my 13 year old son. Since it's arrival he's hardly put it down! It's not loud but sounds sweet and crisp. The finish is perfect, and the set-up spot-on. It's a joy to play and listen to. I'm so glad we made the choice to buy this Pono. Spending a little more to get a better instrument makes all the difference. I've never seen my son so eager to go to school as he was today...turns out it's his first Ukulele Club day with his new Pono. Thank you HMS & Pono! Well done, indeed!!!

You've done it again!
The ukulele is gorgeous visually and sonically. The set-up is superb and the packing job was the best I have ever seen on a musical instrument. Kudos to everyone who helped get this beauty into the hands on my lovely wife.

Lovely instrument, fun to play
I've had this ukulele for about a month now and I love it. I was wavering between the MC and MCD and I'm happy I went for the deluxe version.

This ukulele has an understated design, which I prefer. The gloss finish makes the mahogany look really nice. I would describe the sound as being full and mellow. It sounds lovely strummed but really shines when picked. My fingerpicking has improved greatly since I got it, probably because I can't stop playing it.

I would like to thank the HMS staff for answering all my questions over email and for the great setup. From now on all my ukuleles will come from HMS.

Could not be happier
This is my first uke from HMS and it is a beauty. I'm in the Midwest with few options to buy locally but reviewed the HMS options carefully and got great help from the guys in making my decision. I love the look, tone, ease of playing and intonation. I am playing songs with chord and fingerstyle playing up and down the neck which did not always work for me on other ukes. I look forward to years of pleasurable playing and listening with my new Pono.

satisfaction!
My first ukulele and I couldn't be happier! I'm a beginner and this uke just feels right, I've had it for about 5 months now and each time I play it, I know I made the right choice. I couldn't believe how beautiful it was after I opened the carefully packed shipping box for the first time, not to forget to mention the great "set up" from HMS!

What a great Uke
I wanted a 2nd uke and couldn't justify another K-uke, but wanted a solid wood professional quality instrument. I already have a Koa tenor (with octave low G-string) so I wanted a mahogany concert for something a little different for re-entrant tuning. I couldn't play anything to try before purchase so I took a leap with this one and with this company. I couldn't be more pleased. It's a little softer and quiter sounding than the Koa tenor (that cost x4 more), but I can attribute that to the size and wood differences. This is a very nice isntrument. You won't be ashamed to be seen in public with this beauty. The finish is perfect. The mahogany is drop-dead gorgeous with some curl to it. The ebony fretboard is dark brown, not black, but complements the instrument very well. I don't see how you can do better at this price range. I added the Oahu hardshell case, which is also excellent, and will soon be adding a JJB Prestige-220 pickup to this since I play plugged in virtually 100% of the time and don't like undersaddle pickups. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Plays like a dream and sounds even better
I love my Pono MCD. Everything from its beautiful gloss finish to even its deliciously woody smell is just plain awesome for its price range. The greatest thing about it, obviously, is the way it sounds. Its sound simply can't be beat; bright, clear with rich, full tones, it sounds effortlessly wonderful even in my beginner hands.

But the thing I appreciate is HMS's set-up service. I had previously purchased a Pono AC from another retailer, and although it feels and sounds great, it just doesn't elicit that same degree of ease and satisfaction in playing my MCD does, and I attribute this added awesomeness to HMS's set-up. It really makes a lot of difference, so THANK YOU VERY MUCH for including it in and keeping it free.

A sweet mahogany concert uke that sits at the head of it's class
Simply put, many ukers, including me, think that in it's price range, a mahogany Pono can't be beat. It's light, has a flawless gloss finish and I love the black tuner buttons. For my hands, the neck is perfect..not too thick, wide, etc. To me, it has a full, rich sound, deep for a concert. It has a great "chime" without being brash. I have Ko'olau Alohi strings on it right now, don't remember what came on it, but would see no need to change them at this time. Overall, I think that considering the price, the next step up from this Pono will be a K uke costing 3 to 4 times as much...or more. I have the MCD-E model and it sounds good plugged in, although I seldom do so. It's my "Main Player" at this time. I also got the Ko-olau case with it, a good investment and if something happened to this outfit, I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
