New Clara Includes Gotoh UPT Tuners & New Finish
If you would like a concert size ukulele with a deep, rich tone, plenty of volume and extremely easy playability, check out this brand new model from San Fransisco company Blackbird. It's the first ukulele made with a plant fiber based composite and it offers exceptionable durability for various environments while also giving an amazing tone. Blackbird calls this material Ekoa and says this regarding this new material:
Ekoa is made up of fiber reinforcement fabric in resin matrix, but one that is worker and planet-friendly. The plant-based fabrics and biobased resins have a beautiful designer material quality, which does not always require finishing along with distinct performance advantages over other composites. Ekoa is suitable for numerous applications from sports equipment to furniture, but the Clara ukulele is its debut application.
The new models for 2016 include an upgraded finish and the planetary tuners from Gotoh that look like traditional friction keys but are geared with a 4:1 ratio. This one has a factory installed Mi-Si pickup with a volume and tone wheel right inside the sound port.
The videos below show Clara with low G (D'Addario) and high G (Southcoast Mediums). While Clara sounds great in either tuning, it comes with a low G unless you make a note in the special instructions for high G.
Our sound samples are recorded for true reference and have no alteration or enhancement. Use quality playback for the most accurate listening.
Right now this incredible new concert is only made at a boutique production level, so don't hesitate to add this road-ready ukulele to your collection!
Deluxe gig bag, Mi-Si Charger and HMS final setup included.
