Ordered this with the active pickup and Ko'olau Gold Strings with the wound low G and wound C--it is a real kick to play--you can do a whole new range of uke music with this instrument. Like an electric guitar but way easier to play--rock out, bend blue notes, whatever. Sounds good and very easy to play with the radius fretboard-- The instrument is looks even better than the photos and comes with a cool case . No kidding, I started playing and my three year old grandson started dancing.

Has enough resonance to play unplugged also which means fewer complaints from folks who might not be huge fans of your music.

Pono instruments have exceptional quality and sound at very reasonable cost.

HMS staff did the usual outstanding job on the set up--they really know what they are doing and are accessible. Just a great well run company.
