Product Review (submitted on December 8, 2013):

At age 62, I decided it was time to learn to play a musical instrument. I wanted something that was relatively easy to learn to play (I checked with several music teachers), small enough to carry on a plane, and would be fun to play. After a couple of weeks of research - both online and in stores as well as with musicians, including ukulele players - I decided on a tenor uke. All of the players said that having a uke setup correctly was critical. Hawaii Music Supply's website said that all of their instruments - even less expensive ones - were setup. I finally decided on the Gretsch 9120 and ordered it along with a hard case, an Oahu clip-on tuner and an extra set of strings. With delivery, the cost was around right around $200. About a week later the uke was delivered.
After 6 weeks, it has exceeded my expectations! The uke stays in tune requiring only minor tuning when I take it out of the case. The case is solid and the tuner is incredibly accurate. Other uke players have commented on how well it was set up and how good it sounds.
I play 2 to 3 hours a day and could not be happier with my choice of the 9120 and HMS. One day I hope to be in Hawaii and thank HMS personally.
All the best for 2014!
