I purchased my K1-C gloss about a month ago and have been playing it daily ever since. This is a professional grade ukulele in every aspect. The sound is warm, almost harp-like, with really great resonance and sustain. I know most players today are leaning toward the tenor size, but you can save a couple of dollars by considering a Kanile'a concert instead. The scale is actually a half inch longer than standard concerts at 15.5 inches, which gives you enough room to comfortably play most chords up to about the 9th fret. Kanile'a concerts are every bit as loud as their tenors; I have strummed both side-by-side, and there is no difference in volume, only tone--the tenor has slightly crisper highs and deeper lows. To me, though, the concert sounds more traditional, with better mid-range. One last note, do not hesitate to purchase this or any ukulele from Hawaii Music Supply; Andrew and his entire staff really know their stuff and are ready to answer any questions you may have, and their setups are done right. I couldn't be happier!
