I have the deluxe version of this ukulele, which I believe has slightly higher grade Koa wood! (I didn't actually get it from Hawaiian Music Supply - if I had, it would have been set up better!) This is a beautifully crafted instrument, gorgeous woods throughout and a keeper if you are of the 'needs to be highly decorated' fraternity! Its visual delight is in the sheer quality of the materials and their construction!
Mine had a really high action when it arrived and needed a new saddle because of the way in which they are designed to fit into Kanilea bridges - but a telephone call ensured a replacement was dispatched from Hawaii straight away, free of charge! As I said, I didn't get it from this store - if I had, I think it would have been properly set up before it was sent out.
But they are superb instruments, great clear sound for finger picking and a lovely warm tone for strumming along to songs! Light to hold but strongly built and mine has the gloss finish which is extremely resilient to brushes from fingernails even during the most exuberant sessions! Mine is a year old, is played every day and doesn't have a mark anywhere in the lacquer!
Buy one - you will love it and the sound gets better as you play it!
