Product Review (submitted on August 22, 2017):

1) I am a big fan of Andrew Kitakis, The Ukulele Site and Pono Ukuleles so my expectations were high when I decided to order the MT-8 Mahogany 8 String Tenor Ukulele. I am not disappointed! The fit, finish and Ukulele Site pre-shipment preparation work were as impeccable as I have had in my other 9 Pono Ukuleles purchased here.

2) I bought this ukulele on a bit of a lark thinking it would be a nice instrument for strumming folk tunes with a singer. Wow, did I ever underestimate the fullness of sound and the resonance of this instrument! I grew up in the folk singer era of the 1950's and 1960's with the greats like Judy Collins, Bob Dylan, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, and Tom Paxton just to name a few. Their strumming established what this style of playing could be and the ultimate instrument was, of course, the 12 string guitar. I wanted one for the fullness of sound until I actually tried to play one one and discovered you needed the hand strength of Hulk Hogan to make the chords! With my sweet Pono MT-8 I finally got that strumming "wall of sound" with all the intricate over tones generated by the combination of doubled strings and doubled octave strings and did it with string pressures that are really very close to the traditional 4 string ukulele.

3) The sound is amazingly complex for an instrument this size and I actually timed the resonating sound from a basic C chord I strummed to be over 6 seconds. This is a beautifully made, professional quality instrument!
