Product Review (submitted on December 29, 2012):
I happen to love the soprano body/concert scale neck format and the choices in that field are pretty limited. Outside of a custom "luthier-built" model I think KoAloha does it better than anyone. In fact, KoAloha may do the soprano body better than any of the production ukes - they are crazy-loud and have a very "open" sound that I really like.
This is my second KoAloha - I owned a KoAloha concert when I bought the longneck. Once I decided that I definitely prefered the soprano body I sold the concert.
Both of my KoAlohas were set up perfectly at the nut though the bridge saddle was rather high - not unplayably so by any means but higher than I've seen on most ukes. Since I like low actions I just took the saddles down some. I understand why the factory ships them this way - it is certainly easier to lower the action than raise it!
If there was one thing I would change about the KoAloha longneck soprano it is that I would like to see the neck a little wider, with a couple more mm of space between the strings.
