Product Review (submitted on January 2, 2013):

I own a concert and a tenor of the Kala Acacia series ukes. They're built pretty solid but I did notice some very small blemishes in the finish if I inspect it under a microscope. Barring that, it's priced amazingly well especially considering that it is a solid acacia ukulele and with additional cosmetics like rosette, fret inlays, rope and rosewood bindings etc that you only find on more expensive ukuleles.

The tone is nice and bright as one would expect from acacia and intonation was on the money on both my ukes. Neck size was comfortable and the fretboard is edged with rosewood so you don't have any issues with sharp fret wires in drier climes.

The only cons I can find on this uke are the weight. They are built pretty solid and as a result, weigh more than the more expensive K brand ukes. Compared to some other brands or other Kala models, these ukes aren't as loud volume wise, not to say that they're quite, on the contrary. You'll have to play one to see for yourself.

For the price and what you get, it's hard to overlook the Kala Acacia series.
