This is the Series 3 Gloss tenor from Kala's Elite line made in California. The 3 Series has the most highly figured koa. This one is gorgeous! It also has the upgraded top and back binding, ebony fingerboard, bridge, and faceplate. It also features the Gold closed back Kala geared tuners with acacia buttons.
Kala uses the same UV finish that other companies like Kanile'a or Taylor Guitars use. It's a smooth, glassy, perfect finish. Kala keeps the neck satin for smooth sliding and comfort. The finish shows off the figuring. As you can hear in the video, it has a sweet bell-like tone.

This ukulele is considerably more expensive than any of Kala's imports, but it's still a great value because of its musical quality and craftsmanship.

I'm pleased to own a Kala Elite! 0 people found this helpfulThis 3Koa is really nice, the build inside is very clean! It plays clearly throughout the entire fretboard, with easy to achieve harmonics. The sustain is at a superior level. The only flaw that I have found is the quality of the clearcote is not pristine. The grain still shows through having not been entirely filled and a couple small flaws in the finish. These are very tiny fisheyes and apparent only on close inspection. It is a beautiful ukulele, although not the equal of a Kanilea.
