Pono only uses solid woods, only bone nut and saddle. wood bindings, no plastics. Pono has a climate controlled factory on the island of Java and diligently aims for perfection on every level. It shows. These are the best ukes under a grand!

Good Quality & Sound Instrument 0 people found this helpfulInstrument arrived my home in Singapore just now and I started playing right away. This is my 2nd Uke after Kamaka HF-3. Pono is beautifully made and sound good. Though not made in Hawaii. Sound is just right, not too bright. Also, very good service received by HMS to setup and rush delivery to me. I received within 5 days. Thank you.

Perfect 0 people found this helpfulThis is quite possibly the finest instrument I've ever played. I almost hate putting my dirty hands on it it. The tone-splendid. Especially the midrange. Intonation seems perfect. Volume is impressive. The playablilty of this thing is incredible. It is so easy to play; no buzzing, set up is absolutely perfect, and it stays in tune. I am so glad I spent the extra dough on this. No buyers remorse here. Thank you TUS!!!!!!

All the attributes of a hand-made ukulele! 0 people found this helpfulThis is my third ukulele (third Pono). My Rosewood tenor was my first instrument, followed one year later by a Mahogany Concert. Both sound great and I've enjoyed the luxury of learning and practicing with quality instruments. And now the Acacia Tenor Pro 5! Two days into my new ukulele and I am utterly spellbound by a) the level of fit and finish, b) the sheer beauty of the ultra select grade of Acacia wood and superb trim and c) the rich and mellow voice of this particular instrument.WOW!! Before making the purchase, I had a long conversation with both Aaron and Zach who both knew my budget; one that allowed for a Ko 'Olau hand made instrument. In the end, they reasoned that given my affection for my two Ponos, why not try their flagship tenor ukulele? If not happy, I'd be out only the cost of return shipping. Guess what? A Most Excellent Instrument 0 people found this helpfulI really don't know how it can get much better than this. This is one of the finest instruments that I've ever owned and I've owned more than my share! Tone is such a subjective quality, like trying to describe a color. How can you tell someone what the color Blue is like? Well, in this case I'll just say this Uke is " VERY MUSICAL". The note separation and clarity are fantastic! Not the least bit muddy. It is really a joy to hear from the players side and must be almost celestial from out front!
