The materials used on the newest pro classics are top notch. The body is quarter sawn Honduran Mahogany, an expensive mahogany used for the best musical instruments. Ebony frames off the top and back of the body. The bridge and the fretboard are also ebony and the faceplate is Macassar ebony. The tuners are machined perfectly for smooth use and long term stability, 18:1 gear ratio Grover. The nut and saddle are bone, and the wooden oahu arched top case make this a wonderful package.
There is a slight curve to the fingerboard, nut, and saddle. This is what we are referring to as the fretboard radius. It makes chording easier and allows for low action and an extra sweet feel.
A key feature in all of the Pono tenor and baritone models is the dual-action adjustable truss rod. This is used to stabilize and adjust the lengthwise forward curvature (also called relief), of the neck. It can be adjusted from right inside the sound-hole with an allen wrench provided. This is something you will probably not need to adjust. But over time and with humidity changes, it is a very useful option to have, and a very easy thing to adjust.
This wonderful feel compliments a tone that truly sings. It's a full bodied sound with clarity and warmth, this is the classic mahogany tenor sound at it's best. Ko'olau is very exacting and the results are impressive! This is an instrument to love and cherish for life!

I collected some Custom shop Gibson Acoustic guitar and Electric guitar, and this instrument can Hang out with the big boys! It has amazing feel, the finish is flawless to me. I got it strung with low G & wound C by Thomastik-Infield strings used by Moore ukulele, and the string E&A came from(flourocarbon) living waters. I just love it, warm sound you can strum it hard and it doesn't get muddy, you can pluck it and you get that sweet tone and sustain. It has a bit weight on it but it doesn't bother me, it feels more solid to me and of course the truss rod added a bit. I own a soprano Kiwaya kts 4 , and this Pono and Kiwaya are both fun to play with and it Inspires you to pick the ukulele more and more.In addition to it, I got HMS installed the L.R Baggs 5.0 pick up.

What a great instrument! 2 people found this helpfulFinish and construction is flawless. Compaired to my other ukuele, an IZ, this uke runs circles around it, for the price. I love playing both and both play differently, and both sound great, but for almost half the price the Pono can't be beat. Would like to get a pineapple Pono tenor someday . HMS is an outstanding company to deal with. Always answered calls,and even returned calls left after hours. Can't say enough. Except Thanks!

Pono give it all with amazing quality finish, for a ukulele made in series guys need to work with great precision and care. The sound of the ukulele I love... the video with Corey with pono have given me want to buy this instrument for the sound and this is very true I found the sound at home.
