This is certainly one of the best values in the concert size. The sound projects well with great articulation, and the build quality is solid with high attention to detail. The spalt maple is a three piece laminate and it is beautiful! A solid spruce top, though, is why it has cutting volume and range. Our setup gives it a smooth feel and extra sustain, making this uke a great choice!

With the mahogany wood binding and unique spalt designs of this maple, this model has a high end look at a moderate price.

Each cut of spalted maple has variance in the wood grain and spalt lines, yet each one is a testament to nature's beauty.

A key factor to this having a great value that we attest to is our custom setup that we give to it. If you want an affordable concert that looks and sounds great then this model is one you should definitely consider.

I just bought this ukulele for my brother and so love the sound and the feel that I'm ready to buy a second one for myself! Love the sound, and at this price it sounds more expensive than it is. Definitely recommend.

My wife and I went shopping for a concert uke at Hilo Guitar (highly rec'd) while vacationing on the Big Island. We tried a dozen ukes under $500 and this spruce top, spalted maple veneer back really stood out. Not only was it beautiful, but it was bright and tonally clear, loud--louder than a lot of tenors I was testing--and easy to play. Again, not your traditional uke sound (in terms of brightness and loudness), but I don't think you'll find a better sounding uke for less than $250 or even $500. Going on three weeks, I covet my wife's FMCG and play it every chance I get. Highly rec'd.

The Kala FMC series has a remarkable tone that distinguishes it from other similarly priced Kalas and ukuleles in the $200 tier. Very clear and resonate. With a great setup provided by HMS, budget buyers ought to give this a serious look before passing it up for other ukes.

As arthritis gradually stiffens my fingers my guitars have all gone and I'm now rapt with my Kala uke. Sounds great, looks fantastic and I can still navigate the fret board. For an old blues fingerpicker, this uke is the ducks guts! I can't believe it took me this long to try one of these beautys. The advice from your staff was invaluable and the set-up exactly how I wanted it. I'm now saving for a baritone or a longer neck Tenor. Watch this space! Cheers from Oz

You cant help but notice the spalted maple, but it is the sound you will really remember. Not exactly what I would call the traditional Hawaii sound, but crisp and clear. And dont forget the setup - makes this one easy to play! I've had this one for over a year and it continues to sound better.
