Portability of a Soprano - Feel of a Concert - Tone of a Tenor

Pepe Romero Jr. and Daniel Ho have collaborated again and this time they came back with an incredible concert ukulele. This concert has the overall length of a soprano so it's smaller and easier to travel with, but it has the lower bout body width of a tenor, so the sound has more depth and richness than other concerts.

A few years ago we were at the NAMM show in California and Daniel Ho came by our room and gave us this sample from this new model.

Pictures show the exact ukulele available here. Video shows the same model.

This is an exciting new offering with real and practical benefits to the design features. It has high quality quarter sawn mahogany, a beautiful real abalone rosette, and is shown off with a beautiful gloss finish. The feel is the relaxed tension of a concert but the tone leans more toward a tenor, with a little more warmth. Be the first to experience this new Romero Creations concert.

This is my second Romero Creations instrument. With the first being the 6 string, tuned like guitar, baritone/guilele. Was so wowed by it, that I wanted to try one of their ukulele's. My favorite size is Concert. I love that this has a Concert scale, but the body is a Tenor. Due to that, this instrument out shines any of my other brands of Concerts. And I have several. The sound hole is huge, and the warm, booming sound that comes out of it, is amazing! It is so easily played too. The neck length is perfect for smaller handed people, but yet has the sound of a bigger instrument. It's beautiful to look at and listen to. You can't go wrong with getting one.

For clarity my model is 8026 not 8028 (Don't know what that means, but suspect it's just an older model). This has become my goto instrument. I rarely play anything else. I was going to get a solid body Tiny Tenor later, but after playing this, I realized this was the one for me. Sound is very subjective, but the solid mahogany was just what I wanted for fingerpicking and chordal melody playing. I have tenors and concerts set up both high and low g, and I kept this one low g for a long time because it sounded so dang good, I didn't want to mess up a good thing. I finally switched to re-entrant tuning and there's no going back. This uke sounds great both ways. I am a huge fan of these ukes; I have a solid top TT and STC, but the sold mahogany is the one for me. I opted to be patient and get the full setup. It plays like a dream. UAS cured. I have found the one.
