The Exotic Mahogany series from Kala is only a few bucks away from the standard mahogany series and has a wonderful look with black binding and figured golden brown mahogany. The sound is crisp and voiced very nice. For this price, we could not recommend a better concert ukulele!

A reasonable uke but not consistant 1 people found this helpfulSome days I love my Kala CEM and some days I hate it. For some unknown reason it sometimes sounds muffled or smothered. On a good day it sounds nice and crisp. I don't know if the weather affects the sound or what the reason is.

Beautiful Sound. 3 people found this helpfulA few months ago, after browsing YouTube and comparing different ukulele sizes, I decided that I was going to buy a concert. I researched all of the different models and brands in this price range, listened to cuts of people playing them online, and ultimately ended up walking into the Ukulele Site store with a list of about 10 ukes. This one was by far my favorite. It sounded fantastic, and even though it was much oranger than I would have typically liked, there ended up being no contest. It's still playing wonderfully and I always get compliments from other players who pick it up. :) Would definitely recommend.

Great value! 2 people found this helpfulThis was my first "proper" ukulele. I purchased it after finding HMS on the internet after a disappointing experience with a ukulele I bought from a big retailer. I don't know how much of the quality comes from Kala and how much can be attributed to the set-up, but I do know it plays like butter and sounds really nice. It was a great starter ukulele for this beginner and still the most playable ukulele I own.

I was surprised 1 people found this helpfulI bought this uke as a valentines gift for my girlfriend. It was her first uke and I knew that having a decent uke makes a world of difference in fostering excitement about playing. It was actually available at a local store (and I even had it in my hands, moments away from buying it) but I decided to wait and order it from HMS instead. They do fantastic work on these ukes and it's worth waiting the week or so for them to have it sent to you. When it arrived I checked it out for her and I was really surprised. It's a beautiful instrument and I felt like the sound was on par with my first kala (solid top golden acacia, also a great uke). Do I recommend this ukulele? It's true that it's a laminate, but if you're looking for a really nice uke without breaking the bank then this is a great choice.

quality feel and mellow tone 1 people found this helpfulI got this Kala Concert size exotic mahogany model about 4 months ago as an upgrade from a soprano Lanakai. I has a much more solid feel and the craftmanship is of a beautiful quality. The exotic mahogany offers a beautiful wood grain and has a nice mellow tone. It came with Aquila strings ans stays in tune very well.
