Acacia wood is the cousin wood of the Hawaiian Koa found in Hawaii. However, Acacia is much more affordable! Acacia has beautiful wood grains and similiar curls to Hawaiian Koa. Soundwise, Acacia can vary widely, so it is hard to say what each ukulele will sound like generally, but Acacia woods generally are warm with a nice resonance. It also has a good amount of clarity too.

Uncle Uke 0 people found this helpfulThis was my first uke back in 2012. While I “graduated” to a Martin, Kamala and Kanilea, I still come back to my Kala almost daily. It’s hard to imagine this level of craftsmanship at this price. Very eye catching detail and very nice Acacia grain. Great tone and intonation whether fingerstyle or strumming. Satin finish tends to become glossy with wear, but really, that is nitpicking. A great value and a beautiful instrument!

Good sound and beautiful look 0 people found this helpfulI have had this ukulele for over a year, it was my first concert. It has a warm and strong sound, it has volume and sustain. It's also beautiful! Surprising for the price he has, it sounds like much more expensive ukuleles.

Love this uke 0 people found this helpfulBeautiful warm tone. Shopped around for awhile for an uke in the $200-$500 range and I’m very happy with this pick. Would’ve preferred a gloss finish, but still a nice looking ukelele made with great detail and I love how it feels. You won’t be disappointed.

I bought this as my first "Better Uke" to learn on and upon arrival it exceeded my expectations across the board 3 fold! I was almost speechless. At this price point, the fit, finish, sound, and action are fantastic! Especially since these guys fine tuned everything prior to shipping. I know there are finer Ukes out there but for the money this bad boy will be very hard to beat.

The price won't break the bank, it's well built, and sounds great. I've played a few of my friends' cheaper ukes, and this one is better by far. Having a good instrument makes learning so much more fun!
