This new Opio series from KoAloha is undeniably beautiful!  They now have a gorgeous figured acacia body in a light gloss finish, making them nearly indistinguishable to their Hawaiian Koa line, and this tenor has a sweet tone, syonymous to KoAloha tenors.

KoAloha's top Hawaiian workers have spent the last few years teaching these talented Thai wood workers how to be true KoAloha craftsmen. The result is a fantastic value in a professional quality instrument.

Corey gives this tenor a sample.

KoAloha's Opio line is built exactly the same as their acacia koa line here in Hawaii. The photos and video are stock typical but every single one we tried looked and sounded consistently great. If you wanted the tone and playability of a KoAloha for less money than this is the way to go.

This tenor is very playable and sounds wonderful. I can't imagine a $1000 instrument out-performing this one in any way except maybe cosmetically. I love the thin neck, the set-up is perfect. The sound is warm and clear, decent volume. The sound sample on the product page does not quite convey the sweetness. I like this better than the Pono tenor I had that cost about the same. I knew that within a minute. My impression is that this Opio line gives you the functional build of their more refined products without the fancy cosmetics. If you put a magnifying glass on all the joins, you may find some quibbles. Mine even has a couple of small dings on the edge of the fret board. I guess if this is a problem for you, you need to be shopping a different line, or at the higher end. This instrument has no delicate inlays, the fret markers are plain round wood. The nut and bridge appear to be plastic. But the design and functional build is solid. This thing is a joy to play. I also want to note that this instrument does not have a serial number, which might be an issue on an insurance claim? Mine is stamped "March 2017" on the butt of the neck stock inside.

The Koaloha Opio tenor arrived yesterday, perfectly set up and with a Low-G. Until now my Koa Pili Koko was my go to Low-G ukulele but it is now strung with a high-g, sharing playing time with the Opio. I am totally satisfied with the construction, ease of playing and, most importantly, the sound of the Opio. My search has ended.

This ukulele is such a great tenor! It really shines across all categories. On top of that, it is also covered by the Better Than The Weather Warranty so you can rest assured that your uke will have excellent support. Sound: Sounds warm, sweet, and clear. Regardless of your playing style, this ukulele can works. Each note sounds great fingerpicked individually or great strummed as chords. Also this ukulele has excellent projection and tons of volume! Design: I love the acacia body. You can really see the beautiful grains and wood texture easily. The semi-gloss finish really enhances the look and provides an extra bit of protection. In addition, the tuners work really smoothly and allow very fine adjustments. Overall I am very happy with the purchase and would recommend this to anyone.
