Mahana is defined as warmth. Tone and volume is very similar to our Gold Series, but different. Mahana strings are also a very high quality nylon material, clear instead of yellow, and gauging has been slightly modified. Excellent tone and intonation.

The best thing to do is try a number of different strings and see which one sounds best on your ukulele. If you have a number of ukes you may find you prefer different brands or variations of strings because each ukulele reacts differently to the same strings.

Why bother changing strings that aren’t broken? Because old strings usually get bad intonation!

When I purchased my Pono baritone uke from the Ukulele Site, it came with the Aquila strings. It sounds good. But I also ordered 2 sets of Koo'lao Mahana baritone strings and decided to replace the original strings. I must say that This set is far more superior in every category. I highly recommend this set to anyone who is willing to improve their uke's sound quality, tone balance and feel. Happy strumming everyone!

These strings are quality. It is amazing to change your strings and always be amazed at the brightness of these new strings. I perform a lot with my Pono MB Baritone and these strings hold their sound and last a long while. It's worth the price, these strings are a must with your baritone ukulele. You won't be disappointed.

These came on my Pono MBD, and for the first time ever I never even had the urge to replace the stock strings on an ukulele! They have a great warm tone that complements the big mahogany body, and even the wound strings are proving both durable and easy to play compared to some other wound strings I've encountered.

I recently replaced the original set of Ko'olau strings which were included on my Pono Tenor. I have never used a wound C string before (intermediate player) on any of my previous ukuleles, but after the small amount of time needed to adjust, I am now sold. The quality and value are perfect and the price is cheaper than most music stores that I have visited. Great addition to any order any highly recommended.
