This Pono tenor was made with all solid Acacia wood with beautiful Macassar ebony appointments. This one shows the only one available in this model with turquoise recon stone inlayed alongside ebony wood top binding and for the rosette and Pono logo.
Hawaiian Koa is an Acacia wood, but this is not Hawaiian Koa. It has the same properties and a similar look, but this wood is closer to the Australian Blackwood Acacia. It has a very "warm" tone and is a very musical tonewood. Kalei shares a sound sample of this beauty.
This model now comes with Grover gold closed back mini rotomatics, excellent tuning keys!
Pono uses only solid woods. They use only bone for the nut and saddle and always use wood bindings, no plastics. Ko'olau has refined their Pono line for nearly 10 years and this model is proof that hard work and determination pay off. Pono has a climate-controlled factory on the island of Java and Ko'olau regularly visits to work with them. They aim for perfection on every level and it shows!
This model has such a beautiful voice and look. It plays extremely well and comes with a titanium lightweight adjustable truss rod for adjusting the foreword curvature of the neck. It can be adjusted from right inside the soundhole with an allen wrench provided. This is something you will probably not need to adjust. But over time and with humidity changes, it is a very useful option to have, and a very easy thing to adjust with little room for error. Speaking of humidity, we always give a humidifier with solid wood instrument!
This ukulele also sounds great with a low G set up, so if you would like, we will be glad to set it up that way for you at no extra charge. Low G is what you see in the video, so if you want that sound, type low G in the area below.
Comes with Hardshell Case.
