This is a new custom tenor from a fantastic uke maker in the UK, Pete Howlett. The body is made with an African wood called Korina. Looks like certain koa pieces with dark vertical grain lines but with more of an olive hue, very beautiful. The tonal qualities are mahogany-like, but more articulate, a little more clarity. A large dynamic range, sustain, balance,...top notch tone! We give two sound samples here to show it's tone. First off Kalei gives it a go. Enjoy!
Our sound samples are not compressed or mastered so use quality headphones or speakers for the most realistic tone.
Pete builds with great attention to cosmetic detail, comfort in playability, and tonal balance. He uses a classical guitar style spruce bracing and the craftsmanship inside and out is fantastic. The gloss finished body and satin finished neck are very clean and Pete finishes them separate for a meticulous transition. The 7 piece neck is also with Korina but with another African wood, makore, at the center, and two dyed koto veneers on either side. Very tasteful and very comfortable as well with a medium/ slender sized neck with a hint of a soft V and famously shaped by hand.
This next sound sample is from Corey Fujimoto.
Features include the side sound port, ebony fingerboard, bridge, and faceplate, gold pearl position dots, and beautiful inlay around the ivoroid trimmed top. This is a fantastic instrument! Congratulations to whoever acquires this special custom tenor!
Includes hard wood case and oasis humidifier.
