Pepe Romero is a custom builder from California. He has been making classical guitars for many years and in the past seven or eight has become known within the ukulele community for the unique and beautiful tone his tenors have. This is a brand new custom and it's unique and awesome!
This is a tenor with figured Hawaiian Koa top, back, and sides. It has a cutaway and side port, which are new for Pepe. And it has the arm bevel Pepe introduced this year for his "Supermodel" Tiny Tenor Customs. And it sounds and plays like a dream!
Mika Kane goes over this new custom and gives us a sample. Our recording is "dry" for true sound sampling so use good headphones or speakers for the most accurate listening.
This is his own new and unique "skin-bracing" for the top and back. Pepe builds ukes differently than anyone else, and they sound amazing!
Another key feature to Pepe's builds is the hand rubbed French polish finish. This highly skilled finishing method optimizes the vibration of the wood while still protecting it from the elements. Also noteworthy is that Pepe's ukes are the lightest in weight from any that we carry and a real joy to play. In that regard the fretboard has a 60' radius. It's a very very slight radius but just feels a little bit nicer than a completely flat board when doing barre chords.
In that regard the Gotoh tuners are very light, fast and precise in tuning. Note: Has Pepe's new design clear pickguards on both sides.
This is a tenor sized instrument and comes with a wooden tenor hardshell case and an Oasis humidifier.
