Kamaka HF-3 Tenor Koa Ukulele (Exact one in the pictures available here)
Kalei Gamiao stopped by the workshop and played us a sound sample from the last batch of Kamaka tenors. These recordings are unaltered and we are dedicated to showing true tone.
This instrument almost needs no introduction but for those that are not aware, the Kamaka Tenor is like the Martin Dreadnaught, the Gibson F-style mandolin, or the Fender Stratocaster. In other words, it is the classic for the ukulele. These tenors have a consistent neck and are assembled with a deep understanding of musical instrument making. It has been an essential tool for many of the best players out there. The HF-3 is one we will struggle to keep in stock but if it says in stock, then this beautiful ukulele is available!
All of us at the shop prefer this fairly new semi-gloss finish-option from Kamaka. The feel is much smoother and it has a beautiful sheen to show off the woods' rich coloring. The look is very clean and classy and this last batch sounds amazing.
The video below shows a back-to-back comparison of 12 different string sets on this model. We can set it up with any of these options. Just let us know in the Special Instructions if you want something other than the stock high g set.
Kamaka is a legendary ukulele company, the oldest in Hawaii. When you are ready to take your playing to the next level, it helps to have an instrument that is very in tune with itself and amazingly easy to play. The HF-3 Koa Tenor ukulele is all those things and is built to be treasured for many generations.
