***25 Year Custom One-of-a-Kind I'iwi Tenor ***
This is a one of a kind eye-popping beautiful koa tenor from Charlie to commemorate 25 years of ukulele building. The looks are awesome with really unique and stunning curly koa framed off with black limba bindings. The three-piece back also features a rare spalted koa and the fretmarkers are Roman numerals in abalone and 25 (XXV) at the 15th. Corey and Mika give us a sound sample.
Of course, this features Charlie's classic 3-hole design that gives more soundboard and a deeper tone than your typical single hole soundboard. The sound is crystal clean with excellent projection and a full rich body of tone.
Abalone pearl was used for the unique fret marker inlays and I'iwi bird at the headstock. This is a classy tenor equally beautiful in look and sound. This is what Hawaii's top custom builders usually aim for: a big, warm, yet clear and projecting sound that sings. I'iwi has been doing this so well for 25 years and this is the pinnacle of his efforts.
Other things to note is comfortable feel and spot on neck angle and setup (nice low action). Plus you get the long-term stability of a graphite rod in the neck and Charlie's new mortise and tenon bolt on joint. It also has a hand-rubbed gloss finish and Gotoh UPT tuners.
Charlie's a musician and he builds for tone. With I'iwi you get a warm, clear sound that plays true all the way up the neck. This one sounds incredible!
