Beau Hannam Custom Redwood/Tassie Blackwood Concert
Picture and Video Specific to this Listing.
This is a custom builder named Beau Hannam. Originally from Australia, Beau now builds in Grand Junction, Colorado (USA). It's obvious that Beau is in pursuit of greatness and he trained with one of the best, master builder Gerard Gilet. The tone on this ukulele is among the best we have played in the concert size. It's light in weight, but with a full rich sound and plenty of volume.
Take a listen to this completely "raw" sound sample by Sam Lemann (also from Australia).
The top on this ukulele is a striking quilted redwood. This wood is rare, amazing to look at, and possesses wonderful tonal character! This is complimented by master grade Tasmanian blackwood back and sides. This wood is an acacia wood species that’s a close cousin of Hawaiian koa. Its tonal range is similar and visually it often exhibits some of koa’s same character traits. Blackwood takes koa’s basic tonal profile (a blend of mahogany’s meaty midrange and maple’s brightness) and adds a splash of rosewood’s overtone bloom. Together these woods and Beau's build style make for a very warm, and full sounding concert. When Sam played it he said it was a concert for someone that want the tone and body of a tenor.
Beau is a very talented luthier with a good design; tone, feel, and look. His instruments are rare and sought after, but if this says "In stock" then you have the opportunity to own one now!
Comes with Crossrock hardcase and Oasis humidifier.
