I bought this uke as a valentines gift for my girlfriend. It was her first uke and I knew that having a decent uke makes a world of difference in fostering excitement about playing. It was actually available at a local store (and I even had it in my hands, moments away from buying it) but I decided to wait and order it from HMS instead. They do fantastic work on these ukes and it's worth waiting the week or so for them to have it sent to you.

When it arrived I checked it out for her and I was really surprised. It's a beautiful instrument and I felt like the sound was on par with my first kala (solid top golden acacia, also a great uke).

Do I recommend this ukulele? It's true that it's a laminate, but if you're looking for a really nice uke without breaking the bank then this is a great choice.
