I really, really wanted to love this instrument. But when I played it, it didn't speak to me and another uke came home with me. First, the good. Pono's Acacia Tenor is a beautiful instrument, and the fit and finish of it is all top notch. Really impressive and much nicer than most ukes at this price. However, I found the sound of the uke I played to be a bit dull and muddy. Sound is a very personal thing, and it could have been the strings or the particular instrument I played, but it just didn't have the same bell tones and ring that I've heard online in sound samples. With that said, I still gave this uke 5 stars all around because it is an incredible instrument. Try before you buy if you can to find the instrument that really "speaks to you." This one didn't do it for me, but it might speak to you so give it a try.
