Product Review (submitted on December 30, 2012):

After all of the glowing reviews about this uke, including the video, I was a little disappointed. I have been playing guitar for 15+ years and have only all solid wood guitars, so I wanted to get a solid wood uke. At the same time I ordered this Pono, I also ordered two <$100 soprano ukes for my kids. I was surprised that the cheap little mahogany laminate sopranos almost project better than this Pono. Perhaps it is because the acacia wood is so hard? Either way, I was expecting a fuller sound from the combination of the tenor size and solid wood. Also, the kerfing is slightly split right inside the sound hole and above the back brace -- not enough to affect the integrity of the instrument, but it is certainly something that should have been caught on a quality check. If I had had the luxury of visiting the store and trying out several ukes, I am not convinced that I would have ended up with this one.
