Product Review (submitted on December 24, 2012):

My cousin bought this uke for me last summer for Christmas (in Australia). To this day, I still use this ukulele as my main uke. The quality of the wood and th finish is great although not quite as stellar as my cousin's Ko'olau and Kanile'a. Being mahogany, the sound is a bit darker which I like but I think I prefer the brighter sound of Koa a bit more. Being a satin finish, i was worried about the possibility of scratches and dings appearing all over the instrument but that hasn't been too much of a problem. Although Islander and Cordoba make similar ukulele's for a seemingly lower price, the quality is unmatched to the superiority of the Pono. I heard that there was a truss rod inside of the uke but I can't seem to find it.

Downsides are that the neck seems a bit fat (although thats personal preference). The wider nut makes it easier for fingerpicking but a little more difficult or less enjoyable to strum.

Nevertheless, the guys at Ko'olau have created a great entry-level instrument for all people at a great price. Thanks to HMS for their excellent setup and service.
