Pono Mahogany Concert! Simple yet tasteful.
The MC is a Concert sized solid Mahogany 'ukulele with Pono geared tuners, satin finish, and a beautiful vintage "rope" rosette. The look is simple, but beautiful, as is the tone. The tone is nice and balanced and plays "true" all the way up the neck. This uke now has ebony for the bridge and fingerboard. Corey gives us a sound sample.

Perfectly Perfect! 0 people found this helpfulThis is my first purchase from HMS, and I could not be more happy with my decision to buy from their online store. I haven't been playing very long and this Pono is my first serious ukulele. It arrived more quickly than expected and is absolutely flawless and a joy to play. It is obvious from the setup to shipping that HMS is committed to create the best possible experience for the customer.

Perfect 0 people found this helpfulThis is my second uke. Upgraded from a soprano. The size change is not as big as to a tenor, which is an advantage for a beginner, regardless of the size of your hands. Very good quality and sound. I strongly recommend changing original strings for Aquilas or Worths. Originals are much thicker, stiffer and harder to play. Sound also improves with this minor change. Beautiful finish. Perfect service and setup by HMS.

Outstanding Value in a Quality Instrument 0 people found this helpfulI own a Kanile'a concert and now a Pono concert. Obviously the Kanile'a's construction and sound are absolutely top-drawer. But if you are looking for a high quality concert with construction and sound that thrills, you really should consider a Pono. Attention to detail is very high: not a bad fret alignment or sloppy intonation anywhere. The sound is full and the highs resonate very well. Excellent sustain. I have tried Worths, Southcoast and Mahanas on this uke and they all are just fine: try them all to get the sound you like best. My concert is a flat finish: different from the UV of my Kanile'a, but I like the simple look. All edges in construction are extremely smooth and the finish is consistent; Quality control is very very good on these instruments. The neck is somewhat thin and rewards fast fingering. Easy picking and strumming. I would say that the Pono sound is balanced and clear. It really carries well. If you're looking for a moderately-priced concert uke you owe it to yourself to look at the Pono line. Watch and listen to the HMS videos. This line would be a great present to someone who is intermediate and wants a high quality uke to keep improving. Highly recommended!
