Details

We can install a number of different pickups in your ukulele but in the past few years this has been one of the most popular choices. The Mi-Si uses an L.R. Baggs element pickup strip along with their rechargeable preamp. It works perfectly for almost any ukulele. Having this installed does not affect your acoustic tone , but will give you the option of plugging into a professional pickup system for live use or recording.

Acoustic Trio

Simple Jack & power charger with L.R. Baggs acoustic guitar pickup

The Mi-Si Acoustic Trio System features an active, battery-free preamp designed specifically to work with the L.R. Baggs undersaddle Element acoustic guitar pickup. The preamp for this system uses Mi-Si’s custom piezo linearization scheme, allowing for the most truthful and accurate sound from the
pickup. All you have to do is power up for 60 seconds using the Mi-Si Power Charger, providing you with up to 16 hours of performance time.

Additional Information
Specs

CHARGING AND PLUGGING IN
To charge the Acoustic Trio pickup, plug the Power Charger into a 120/220 V AC outlet. Then plug in the Power Charger 1/4” stereo plug into the pickup’s endpin jack and wait 60 seconds. Now you’re pickup is ready for 16 hours of performance time (actual playing time may vary depending on playing style). For best performance increase the charging time up to 120 seconds for the initial 2-3 charging cycles.
You can plug your instrument into ANY input of ANY system or amplifier regardless of input impedance. In the same manner, you can use ANY type of shielded MONO cable – regardless of its capacitance. Your sound will not be altered. You can enjoy the benefits of an active amplified system without worrying about batteries.
ENDPIN JACK INSTALLATION
The endpin jack can be permanently mounted as shown.

LIMITED WARRANTY
The warranty period is one (1) year from the date of purchase. During this time, Mi-Si Electronics Design, Inc. will replace a faulty unit at their discretion. This warranty does not cover any consequential damages or damage to the unit due to misuse, accident or neglect. Mi-Si Electronics Design, Inc. retains the right to make such determination based on results of inspection performed at the factory.
USEFUL TIP
Using the Power Charger to power up your preamp is truly remarkable. But what if you forgot or lost your Power Charger? Don’t worry! Although we don’t promote the use of batteries, in this case all you need to power up your system is any stereo cord and a common 9V battery.
Plug the stereo cord into your instrument. Hold the 9V battery so that the positive terminal is touching the Ring of the stereo plug and the negative terminal is touching the Ground. Hold it like this for 60 seconds and you are ready to play for 16 hours. The system will not be damaged by accidentally connecting the battery in wrong direction.

Options You can add the install if you are purchasing an ukulele. It's runs you an additional 49 and can possibly add a few days onto an order. If you have a time constraint, contact us and we will let you know if we can get it done in time for you!

Best Pickup for my Kala Baritone
I had this one istalled in my new Kala Acacia Baritone from HMS and they did a great job.

I charged it up after it arrived at my house in New Orleans,La and when I played it through my Honeytone Amplifier it had a clear sound and no problem.

Hawaii Music Supply hit it out of the park with my Baritone and the MiSi Pickup.

GREAT ADD ON to an AMAZING UKE
hand-picked my Kanilea concert at the Kanilea shop in Kaneohe a couple of years ago. This year I finally had the courage to play with some friends for a wedding, but I definitely needed to "plug in." There was NO WAY I wanted anyone touching the Kanilea, but when I saw Joe Souza on a youtube video installing a Misi pickup, I surrendered. I'm so glad I did. WHAT A GREAT LIL" sound system. Who knew it could actually IMPROVE the sound of an already phenomenal uke. The local luthier and stringed instrument healer wateched the video when he put it it and it works like a dream. No problems and again, the sound is over the top. An amazing price for a great "enhancement." If you're buying a new uke, I would definitely get HMS to install this from the start. You won't ever regret your decsion.

Great sound, convenient recharging setup
I ordered the Misi Trio - Active Pickup installed in the Pono -ATD - Gloss Acacia Tenor that I ordered during the 2012 Christmas season. I researched pickups on this site and on ukuleleunderground.com. First of all, the sound is excellent. Some piezo pickups will sound very sterile and artificial, but this sounds great. No need for an external preamp, just plug it straight into the mixing board/PA, or an acoustic amp if you have one. Second, the recharge setup is extremely convenient. No need to pull a battery out of the sound hole, just plug one end of the A/C adapter into the wall and the 1/4" plug into the ukulele output jack for one minute, and it's charged for several hours - much longer than I will need for a few consecutive gigs or rehearsals.

A great way to amplify your Ukulele
I purchased 2 of these, one for my Kanile's KT1 and the other for my Mainland Tenor. Installation is quite straight forword, but if you have no woodworking skills it may be better to have it fitted proffesionaly.
Some EQing needs to be done to get the best sound, but over all I would reccomend them to anyone.
Once charged they have lasted as long as I needed, although when plugged into my irig there is a lot of unwanted noise. Overall a great bit of kit.

Not as great as expected...
I had installed this pickup into my Koa Pili Koko expecting a great sound, but it didn't live up to my standards. With a flat EQ (meaning a balanced mid, treble, and bass), it sounds more focused on the highs. Every time I plug it in, i have to adjust the sound settings to more bass, less treble. The rechargeable battery is cool, but unfortunately the sound quality is not so great.

The best choice to amplify.
This is a great pickup. I really like the absence of a battery and of all of the problems a battery powered pickup always come with, such as the choice of the right battery, the fear to run out of power during a gig and so on. It's very well constructed, a real quality product, with the perfect sound you expect from a classic active piezo pickup. Of course it gives a completely different sound from a mic on the uke, which I prefer, but with this one I rarely have feedback problems and the sound is not as dry and full of medium range frequencies as I had trying other passive piezo pickups.
To me, also the price is fair for a great product such as this one.

Misi stands by their products
I bought my Misi Trio from Hawaii Music Supply and they sent it to me in Seattle very fast. I installed it in my ukulele but was disappointed when it didn't work. I contacted Misi and did some test that they wanted me to do and then sent them the pickup. It had a broken wire. Even when Misi was having bad weather from the storm Sandy they sent me a replacement right away. The pickup works great and my ukulele sounds beautiful with my amp system. Misi stands by their products. I love to buy things from Hawaii Music Supply they send out thing very quickly and their prices are hard to beat.

Love my MiSi pickups
I really like the MiSi pickup. I have them installed in two of my Ukuleles. One in my Kanile'a Super Soprano and one in my Kala travel uke. They both work perfectly and have never given me any trouble. I had one of them installed at the Kanile'a factory in Kaneohe by Joe (through Andrew at HMS) and one by Music Guy Mic before he joined HMS. These pickups do not use a battery, instead they use a capacitor that lasts a very long time between recharging and only takes 60 seconds to recharge. I was talking to Julia Nunes after her concert in SanFrancisco this year (the last stop of her tour), and she confided in me that she had forgotten to pack her MiSi charger with her and the pickup in her Kala lasted the entire tour on one charge!!

Amazing pickup, if you have the cash to spare and need one BUY THIS
Installed this in my uke and have never regretted it. This bad boy resists feedback that my stock kala pickup always had issues with. picks up even subtle sounds and techniques such as vibrato. can make the uke sound good even if the player isnt.

Perfect for the uke
Asked HMS to install it on my acacia tenor (was scared to mess up)
The job is flawless and it's a real pleasure to plug-in!
The sound is transmitted without defects and buffing it with effects makes ukulele playing a whole new experience!
There is no wire sound and i can't notice unbalance from the uke (it's really light)
Excellent choice in my opinion!

Great Item
The miso pickup is a great item, and the people at Hawaii Music were nice enough to ship it quickly, and even instruct me on how to install it. Now I can play my beautiful Kanilea Ukulele amplified, or in the studio. Great product, great store!

Easy to use, great natural tone!
I actually have this pickup in both of my ukes. It is so easy to charge and takes only a couple of minutes. I actually forgot to charge before my last show, but it lasted perfectly. The tone is natural with no "hot" spots. HMS put in in my K'Aloha soprano and I go direct to the sound board. Perfect!

Very Very good
i had this put into my soprano ukulele and its been very nice it doesnt add to much weight so its not super heavy in the back and light in front and it sounds fantastic very clear and responsive and the rechargeable battery is super nice about 60 secons to charge and you get 16 hours or so of play time which when i bought i didnt believe that but ive had it for about 5 months and only have had to recharge it once and in the instructions it says how to recharge it with a 9-volt battery so if youre out playing a gig or something you can just carry a 9-volt battery in your case or pocket and that will recharge you for the night or whatever so you never have to worry about forgeting your charger so if youre looking to play outloud i would highly recommend this for any size ukulele.

Misi Trio
Had this pickup installed in my custom ukulele. 60 Seconds of charging keeps this pickup going for up to 16 hours. I think they are pretty acurate as I rarely have to charge it. It is lightweight as they do not have any batteries but use a capacitor to hold the charge. Has good sound & no buzz what so ever. I think this is one of the best pickups available and if luthier Chuck Moore uses it in his High End Custom Ukes then it is good enough for me.
