This is just now back in limited quantity from the San Fransisco company Makai, and we love it! What a great deal for a well made, all solid wood tenor!
Mango has long been known for making ukes as sweet as it's fruit. This tenor is no exception and for being all solid wood it is an amazing value. Package options offer everything you need to take your playing up a notch or jump-start your love for making music on the ukulele.
Mango wood has similar properties as mahogany and gives a very balanced and open sound. Makai is a small company that has only done a limited production of these all solid mango ukes. They are adorned in the vintage style that many other Makai's are with rope purfling and wood bindings.One thing they did differently than many of their models was putting geared tuning keys for more accurate and lasting tuning ability. That can make life a bit easier!
Makai uses Bone Nut and a Bone Saddle, the finest material for the best sound, and after we adjust the nut and saddle and give it our custom setup it plays fantastic. This is a good example of a well built tenor ukulele with great components and solid woods that just need final setup work from our in house luthier. The result is the best value you will find in a solid wood tenor!
