Luna High Tide Tenor – All Ovangkal Body – Cutaway and Pickup

Are you looking for:

  • a great sounding tenor ukulele
  • that is very easy to play
  • with a good pickup system for playing live or recording
  • and won’t break the bank

Well this is the Luna High Tide Tenor…. and it one of the best tenor ukes to come out in the last few years. If you want a nice sounding tenor with a good pickup system, in this price range, this the one !

The Luna HTT has a great “voice”. A bit scooped in the mids with bright highs and warmth below. It has an awesome strumming sound and would make a great instrument for any singer, songwriter. The active EQ on their preamp lets you dial in just the right tone for stage or recording. On top of that- It looks great! ~ a sweet balance between the traditional look, and the creative design aspects Luna’s are known for. The abalone waves are cool touches that make it unique without being “too much”. It’s a nice contrast to the satin natural look of the Ovangkal wood body, Maple wood binding, and Rosewood fretboard. But even more important than any of that is the custom setup we do on every HTT before it ships. We lower the nut and saddle, dress frets, oil and polish the fretboard, and quality control intonation or any other issue so that no ukes with any problems get sent out. This makes a HUGE difference to the overall quality, and feel. With our setup you are going to inspired to play longer and get better!

Remarkable
This is my fifth ukulele and I really wanted one what a great pick up system that I could use my advantage in my recording and YouTube videos. Right out-of-the-box I was absolutely blown away by how amazing the satin finish was the wood is almost holographic and it's very curly I absolutely love this instrument! It sounds absolutely amazing with the ko'olau alohi strings on it. This ukulele is by far one of my most prized possessions that I play every day. This uke sounds sharp, its warm, it's beautiful the tone is amazing; better than any of my local area music store ukes or of my own and I absolutely love the playability! Great deal, great buy & it sounds like a $600-$1000 ukulele!

Great value
After owing the Luna High Tide for a while, I conclude that it is a great first electric ukulele for a beginner. As a good classical guitarist, its level of tone and resonance don't reach the levels of the 4 "K's" certainly. It is a bit muted played unplugged. Pickup is surprisingly good. Neck is excellent although I have found a bit of buzz. One nut slot was cut too deep. So my rating of this ukulele is based on a comparison of great ukuleles such as Kamaka. Unfair perhaps, but for a beginner, it is hard to match. Oh and did I say it is gorgeous!

High quality instrument at low price!
Well, for starters, this was the first REAL ukulele that I had purchased since learning to play the instrument. Before this, I was playing on some $30 novelty I had ordered on a whim from Amazon. Not that I regret the purchase one bit, but as I was getting better at the uke, it was beginning to feel like a toy. The moment this bad boy arrived at my door, I opened it up and just had to take in it's beauty. The Ovangkal wood gives it a unique, yet classic look. And the rolling tide fret markers are a nice understated touch.
After tuning it, I strummed out a few basic chord changes and was blown away by the night-and-day differences between this and my last ukulele. The Luna High Tide Tenor sings with a beautiful tone, and the addition of the Low G makes this a very versatile instrument.
I recently had a chance to test out the pickup, and it sounds just as tasty amplified and recorded.
I would definitely suggest this ukulele for someone who wants a professional sounding instrument without spending a professional amount of money.
