Quick Overview

Ko’olau T100C

This, like most Koolau listings is for a custom build to be made. It can range from 3-6 months depending on options chosen.

This is two examples of a Koolau T100C with a figured koa upgrade. One is in a gloss finish and the other in satin. This model has a contemporary look and a custom shop feel. You will not find this tonal depth and character in a production instrument. Warm tone Koolau is known for, yet it retains a clean and articulate resonance characteristic of a Koa.

At the bottom of the page you can choose satin or gloss finish, add any extra features you would like, and order your own custom Hawaiian Ukulele! The build time is 2-4 months for the satin and 4-6 months for the gloss. This is a nitro-cellulose laquer finish and Ko'olau does a satin and gloss to perfection.

The custom quality and attention to detail make Ko’olau one of the finest musical instruments you can find! The sound is projecting but balanced. This model definitely has the warm mid range tone Ko’olau is known for. The feel is spot on. The intonation is spot on. The details are flawless as is the glassy finish taken to .004 inches, allowing the sound to breathe and resonate.

There is a continuity of build you only get when you have one master builder giving his expertise and love into the making of a perfect instrument. From cutting the wood to stringing it up, master luthier Noa Bonk of Ko’olau Guitar and Ukulele company gives the devotion required for greatness. This is an obvious example of that magic at work. Kilin Reece has been spraying the finish at Ko’olau for almost 10 years now. He has studied finishing extensively, working with Santa Cruz Guitars originally and a few years back studying finish techniques in Europe on traditional violin techniques. Kilin touches upon his philosophy with finishing at the beginning of this shop tour-

These ukuleles have the quintessential tenor tone!

Custom Options

You start off with a Ko'olau Tenor T100 koa cutaway with a curly koa upgrade. The main option here is your finish. Satin is what it will come with unless you check the gloos finish box to upgrade. This also extends the build time nearly two months.

For your headstock you can get a regular head or upgrade to the slotted headstock

Other options include no fret markers on the fingerboard face, like the two slot head ones here have. (still has side dots for your viewing).

The last big option is choosing a pickup system if you are plugging in.

Extra Options

The Herco HE360, is the included humidifier. You can upgrade to the more expensive Oasis Ukulele Humidifier (OH-18). This is suggested if you live in a low humidity area.(parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, etc..) including cold winter areas if you are heating the air most of the day and night. For more info see our Ukulele Care link at the bottom of the site

If you want a different set of strings you can buy them at the strings section and just note that you want us to change them in the special instructions.
