Super gorgeous guitar-lele - Pictures show the one now available!
This Hawaiian Koa instrument is the size of a baritone ukulele and is tuned A-D-G-C-E-A , which is the same as a guitar with a capo on the fifth fret. So if you play guitar you will be right at home on the GL6, same fingerings but a 4th higher in pitch. This would be great for the guitar player looking for an ukulele sound but with the bass tones available. It would also serve as the ultimate portable guitar to take on vacation without it being a "big" deal. Fits the size requirements for a carry on and is a load of fun to play.
Here's a "raw" sound sample of the Kanile'a GL6-
This was one of the first GL6's we had in stock and John goes over some of the features.
Many people have asked how this compares to other guitarlele's on the market like the KoAloha or Cordoba. The main difference is that it is a baritone scale and the others are tenor scale. The added 3" of scale length and larger body size give more projection and a bigger overall sound. This may be the ultimate in Mini-Guitars. Experience it for yourself. We guarantee you will love it!
In this new and exciting instrument Kanile’a has utilized their t.r.u. bracing system to give it that crystal clean tone Kanile’a is known for. As you get into the higher register, you get beyond the guitar in range, and bell-like tones ring out more like a piano than a guitar! As Kanile’a's master luthier, Bill Griffin notes, “It’s like a guitar with a capo on the 5th fret, however instead of having 7 or 8 frets left to the body, you have a full 16 frets to the body to go, so it allows guitarists to expand, not only their scale, but their creativity as well.” One of the great features of this instrument is its ease of play. It feels natural for both the ukulele and guitar player. It is quite a beautiful union with the best from both worlds. With its beautiful koa body and unique, beautiful tones , the Kanilea GL6 is definitely one to put on the wish list! This guilele comes with a ukecrazy baritone canvas hard case.
